Western Civilization as we know it owes a lot to the French Revolution.
Liberty, Fraternity, Equality
After watching the History Channel's interpretation of the events, I was intrigued by the irony of events in Egypt and the Middle East. The people are seeking democracy now. They are establishing their need for independence based on the western values that the constitution also based it needs.
Everyone seeks Human Rights.
The rights of every man, woman, and child.
If history is to be an indicator of the future, then lessons can be learned on how the process began and continues to this day.
One thing is sure, the people will be heard. One way or another.
Interestingly enough, the revolution was started by women, who demanded that they have food for their family. As it grew and the Reign of Terror escalated with the use of the guillotine, brute force was the weapon of the day. When we forget that balance must be maintained, extremes become the result. Too much on either side is not good. How to maintain balance, not become the fool, not become the bully. Who gets to measure when it is too much, or not enough?
That's my latest interest. The reasons, methods, and the whys and hows of starting a new republic. How do we really impact a nation?
My heartfelt desire is to be true and sincere. To love God and to love my fellow man. To show my angst and happiness through words and deeds.
