You Have Not Because You Ask Not

Psalm 77
I cried out to God for help;
    I cried out to God to hear me.
When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
    at night I stretched out untiring hands,
    and I would not be comforted.
I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
    I meditate   d, and my spirit grew faint.[b]
You kept my eyes from closing;
    I was too troubled to speak.
I thought about the former days,
    the years of long ago;
I remembered my songs in the night.
    My heart meditated and my spirit asked:
“Will the Lord reject forever?
    Will he never show his favor again?
Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
    Has his promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be merciful?
    Has he in anger withheld his compassion?
10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal:
    the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
    yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will consider all your works
    and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

Wednesday

Song of Songs 4-5

She

I slept but my heart was awake.
Listen! My beloved is knocking:
“Open to me, my sister, my darling,
my dove, my flawless one.
My head is drenched with dew,
my hair with the dampness of the night.”
I have taken off my robe—
must I put it on again?
I have washed my feet—
must I soil them again?
My beloved thrust his hand through the latch-opening;
my heart began to pound for him.
I arose to open for my beloved,
and my hands dripped with myrrh,
my fingers with flowing myrrh,
on the handles of the bolt.
I opened for my beloved,
but my beloved had left; he was gone.
My heart sank at his departure.
I looked for him but did not find him.
I called him but he did not answer.

Galatians 3

Faith or Works of the Law

Children of God

23 Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Something Good

Song of Songs 1-3

Solomon’s Song of Songs.

She

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—
for your love is more delightful than wine.
Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes;
your name is like perfume poured out.
No wonder the young women love you!
Take me away with you—let us hurry!
Let the king bring me into his chambers.

Dear Lord, I have done something good. I have gotten my mother and father back together. They will marry and begin to take care of each other, again. That will be a big relief for me and for them. As they get older, they realize how much they need each other. The doctors were cooperative and understood where I am coming from. We cannot provide the level of care that is needed and a nursing facility is what is needed. If they can get him close to home then the dialysis and the facility will be close for us to visit. My brother and I both said the same thing. When we were little we wanted them back together. We grew up and moved on. Now in their twilight years, due to business issues, they remarry. Am I good or what. I fix everybody else's life but my own. I need to mind my own business. Maybe now I'll have the time to do just that. I love you very much.

Monday

Ecclesiastes 9:11-12

The race is not to the swift
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all.

12 Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:

As fish are caught in a cruel net,
or birds are taken in a snare,
so people are trapped by evil times
that fall unexpectedly upon them.

Thank you Lord for today. I take my rest in you Lord. Your glory is what I seek. When I woke yesterday, I had a lot on my mind. My fears were alleviated. Today I have to go and talk to the doctors about skilled nursing placement for my dad. Yesterday I was scared and alone. I didn't want to do it by myself. I wanted to ask you to be there with me today. Whether you could or not at least I was going to ask. I know how busy you are. I hope you decided on a vacation this year. You don't want to push your body too much. So today I'll go alone, since no one else in my family will come with me, for the "family" meeting. I know that the level of care is greater than we can do at home. He will be around people who can meet his needs much better than we can. His attitude is such that he has stopped talking to everyone. Refusing physical therapy. What more can I do. I'm not here, my mother can't do it, she's 80, so I am informing them that he cannt return home and must transition to a nursing facility. There, just say it and get it out. Take Care of yourself, heed the doctor's warning. Have a blessed day. I love you.

Another Day

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,

Dear Lord, how can I thank you enough for today? You have blessed me to have another chance. I have an opportunity to make a difference. Let me not squander today. Be blessed and be a blessing to someone. I love you.

My Heart

Proverbs 19
As water reflects the face,
so one’s life reflects the heart.

2 Corinthians 10

Paul’s Defense of His Ministry

10 By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” toward you when away! I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

Dear God, thank you for today. Strengthen us. Know the things that challenge us and stay with through our challenges. Stay close and allow us to praise you. We love you so much. Without you this would be nothing. I wonder why you allow certain things to happen, but who am I. I begin my day with you on my mind and in my heart. Have a blessed day and remember that I love you.
